I’m baaaack. (Also, free stuff.)

I’ve been back almost a week now actually, but as I mentioned on FB a few days ago, it’s taken some time for me to get back into my usual routine. Florida was hot. And occasionally rainy. But it was a good trip, and I had a great time hanging out with my dad, which more than made up for the unusually high amount of Donald Trump coverage on the local news. (Seriously, he was all over the place. WTH, Florida?)

I didn’t get as much writing done as I wanted, but I did enough to make me happy. I felt like a teenager again, sitting in my bedroom and secretly handwriting all sorts of illicit stuff. 😀 I also got a fair bit of reading done, making a slight dent in the hundreds of books on my reader.

Now that I’m back, I’m ready to jump back into The Rising Son, the second H.I. book. I think I can have it done in a few weeks, so for now I’m feeling pretty confident about keeping the Father’s Day release date. While I was down there, I came pretty close to finishing the non-vampire short story I mentioned previously, plus I outlined a new story that I want to start as soon as Book 2 is done. So I definitely have plenty of stuff to keep me occupied for the foreseeable future.

The bookmarks I told you guys about are in, so just a reminder, if you want one (or many) let me know. I love how they turned out. Thanks again to Jenny Cotton for making that happen.

Last but not least, A Halloween Interlude is FREE on Smashwords through the end of the month. (I meant to do this before I left but got distracted with pre-trip stuff, sorry.) The coupon code is GE76V. Grab a copy while you can!

That’s it for now. Yes, I know it’s Thursday, so you can expect a TBT post, oh, sometime tomorrow. 😉 Have a nice day!

A Halloween Interlude is now available

Upcoming short story!

Hello! This post is to announce a brand new, soon-to-be-published short story in the Harborview Immortals series titled Family Matters: A Halloween Interlude. It takes places about three weeks after the final events of Family Matters on Halloween night. While it isn’t required reading for the series (it was basically an excuse to write something smutty), I hope that those of you who do decide to purchase it will enjoy reading it. And bonus points if you spot the references to other stories that were thrown in there.

Here’s an excerpt from the beginning (spoilers, obviously, for Family Matters): Continue reading “Upcoming short story!”

Did I say the 29th?

Like Fathers, Like Son Cover

Xan Dawson is used to getting what he wants, and what he desperately wants right now is to attend the party of the year. Unfortunately, that party will be filled with drugs and alcohol and all sorts of other things that no sixteen-year-old should be doing. When his vampire fathers tell him no—a word he doesn’t hear from them very often—he temporarily succumbs to his inner brat and reacts in a way that he can never take back. The best he can hope for is that he will be forgiven.

This is a Harborview Immortals prequel short story. It contains references to Family Matters, as well as possible nods to the other Extra stories in this series.

Contains mild adult content.

I originally intended to save this for Father’s Day, but events in this story are briefly mentioned in #2 so I decided to publish it beforehand. Instead, I’ll save the erotic shorts for later. (Erotic short stories, because erotic shorts make me think about crotchless booty shorts or something like that, lol.)

Like Fathers, Like Son will be available to download and read online on January 31.

TBT November: Harborview Immortals

I’m doing this a day early because Thursday is Christmas Eve and, in keeping with tradition, my husband and I will spend all day frantically shopping for gifts at the last minute and then taking all night to wrap them. Fun times!

One month ago—after years of manga setbacks—I took the plunge and publicly shared a novel that was very near and dear to me, along with two additional short stories afterwards. I was nervous as hell about it, too, and I’m usually not the nervous type. Although I didn’t put much effort into advertising any of it outside of my own little social media circle and posting them on a few fiction sites, the stories have averaged ten downloads a day since November 21. Presuming that this is not due to a handful of very devoted friends who downloaded them on 300 different computers and devices, I’m pretty damn proud of that. Thank you for taking the time to get to know my diverse little vampire/human family. There are a lot of stories in this series still yet to be told, and I hope you will continue to enjoy reading them as much as I will continue to enjoy writing them.

Happy Holidays!!!

Small Packages DL and Story Links

Updated from original post on 12/18:

Small Packages Cover

Ah, Christmas Eve. For Jacob, it’s a time for enjoying the presence of his family and friends, making sure that Dominic doesn’t kill his twin brother, and silently hoping that his fourteen-year-old son doesn’t get a thousand tattoos when he grows up because apparently that’s the plan. But hey, at least there are gifts.

Gift-giving isn’t easy when two vampires with a lot of centuries between them have just about everything they could ever possibly need or want. But this year, Jacob has found the perfect gift for Dominic, one that will change both their lives, and he can’t wait to give it to him.

This is a Harborview Immortals prequel short story. While it contains references to Family Matters, no prior knowledge of the book is required.

Contains explicit content.

Okay, that’s it for this year but I’m already working on Book 2 plus a few other Extra stories, one of which I will probably publish in January if time is kind (and one is being reserved for the Smashwords release of Family Matters, whenever that is). In addition to all of that, there will also be those non-vampire stories I mentioned previously. What I’m basically trying to say is that I plan to throw a lot of stories your way in 2016. I hope you don’t mind. 😀

This is a special early posting for those of you who are following my blog and anyone else who happens to stumble across this entry. The story will be announced on social media and posted to the usual sites on 12/20.

Enjoy, and thank you so much for your support! ❤

Small Packages Cover and Excerpt

Hello! I wanted to share a sneak preview of Small Packages for anyone interested in checking it out.

Here’s the cover:

Small Packages Cover

And here’s a quick, sexless excerpt:

All of the neighbors’ houses were festively decorated with numerous strings of bright, blinking lights that cut through the darkness with alternating flashes of red and green. Some of the houses displayed Nativity scenes while others had Santa and his reindeer. The Taylors, who lived two houses down on the other side of the street, had both. It was a combination that amused Jacob to no end—even more so because of the zombie garden gnomes that were acting as stand-ins for two reindeer and one of the Wise Men.
“We should decorate the outside of the house one of these years.” He turned his head slightly to the right to acknowledge the vampire who had joined him at the window. “Maybe the neighbors would like us then.”
“Do you really care if they like us or not?” Dominic asked.
“No, but it would be nice if they didn’t stare at our house like it was a part of some circus freak show.”
Dominic leaned forward to peer through the glass, his chin resting on Jacob’s shoulder. “We are a gay, interracial couple living in a conservative neighborhood, Jacob. Holiday decorations aren’t going to make much of a difference to most of these people. I can only imagine how they would react if they knew that we were vampires.” After a moment, he added, “Are those zombies?”
“Yeah,” Jacob replied with a grin. “At least we’re not the only weirdos on the street.”

Small Packages will be available for download and online on 12/20.

An Unexpected Addition DL and Story Links

An Unexpected Addition Cover

Vampires Dominic and Jacob have been together for almost two hundred years. Despite the pain of their respective pasts, they now have tremendous wealth, power, and—most importantly—each other. However, thanks to a new business opportunity (and an impromptu quest for flavored lube), they’re about to discover the one thing that they’ve been missing in their long lives: fatherhood.

This is a Harborview Immortals prequel short story (I revised the hell out of it, causing it to lose its novelette status). While it contains references to Family Matters, no prior knowledge of the book is required.

The Downloads & Story Links page has also been updated. Please message me if you have trouble with any of the links.

(Lastly, because I’m kind of obsessive, the Family Matters downloads have been updated with versions that have properly centered scene breaks. It was keeping me up at nights, you have no idea. Sorry about the fail.)
